The principal institutions are universities and Grandes \u00c9coles.<\/p>\n<p>Grandes \u00c9coles \u2013 these prestigious and uniquely French institutions \u2212 are either public or private. There are around 250 Grandes \u00c9coles in France, offering degrees in business, engineering, political science and other specialized fields. Some of the Grandes \u00c9coles are members of the Conf\u00e9rence des Grandes Ecoles (CGE).
